In a democracy, our vote is our voice. And our voting rights are endangered. That’s why I’m running for City Commissioner.
Advocating for Voting Rights
Voting and registering to vote should be easy and the opportunities to do so should be everywhere. But there are many forms of voter suppression - long lead times for registration, voter ID laws, gerrymandering, limited voting hours and more. I plan on working with progressive legislators on the state level and community groups to work toward the following:
Increasing Voter Access
We can also affect change on the local level to make registering to vote and voting easier and accessible to all Philadelphians. Locally I propose the following:
Voter registration with:
SEPTA Key Cards
Library Cards, with depositories for Voter Registrations in all branches
Resources to make polling stations accessible to some of Philadelphia’s most vulnerable voters
Reassess training models for poll workers
How You Can Get Involved
Elections are one of the most fundamental rights of our citizens and I need your help to bring real change to Philadelphia’s election system.
Whether it’s circulating a petition, making phone calls, attending an event or making a donation, I hope I can count on your support.
Please take a minute to let us know how you’d like to get involved and join our email list to stay up to date on ways to help get out the vote.
“While all major studies and analyses have determined that in-person voting fraud is rare to non-existent, restrictions are preventing thousands of people from exercising their right to vote. In a democracy, our vote is our voice.” Marwan Kreidie
